This tutorial sends a question about a selected result. First set up an AI connection. OpenAI and Anthropic API connections support the reviewed assistant tools. The ChatGPT account route (preview) answers reviewed text and attached-evidence questions in an isolated Codex session; native Codex tools are disabled. It needs the pinned runtime, Linux bubblewrap, browser sign-in, and a successful flightops ai test.
1. Open Flightops with AI enabled
For a saved connection:
flightops --aiIf you chose a session-only key, use the app opened by the setup wizard. Press A, then m to enable AI in that app. Starting a second process cannot reuse the session-only key.
2. Choose evidence (optional)
Open a view containing the result or observation you want to investigate. For saved results, press 7 and select the relevant row. Press A to open the assistant, then s to attach the selection as context.
If there is no result to attach yet, skip this step and ask a general ROS question. Opening the assistant does not attach your project automatically.
Flightops uses retained evidence identities. If a selection has no supported retained evidence, use a saved result instead. Review any error rather than assuming the visible screen has been attached.
3. Ask a question
In the assistant panel, press i, then type a focused question, for example:
Explain which check failed in this result. Cite the evidence and suggest the next diagnostic step.
Press Enter. Review the pending request: check the provider, model, prompt, and attached evidence. Press y to send it, or n to reject it. Sending may incur provider usage. Review further proposed retrievals separately. On the ChatGPT account route, Flightops sends a bounded text projection; it does not give the runtime native tools or filesystem access to your project.
4. Inspect the answer
Use Page Up and Page Down to scroll. Compare the explanation with the original result. Press e to leave the assistant and inspect the selected canonical evidence. An answer does not change the result's pass or fail status.
Press c in the assistant panel to cancel an active request. A request already submitted to a provider may still incur usage. Press m to return to Standard mode, or Esc to close the panel. Closing the panel alone does not disable AI.
Key reference
These keys apply while the assistant panel is open:
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
C | Open connection setup. |
m | Enable or disable AI-assisted mode. |
s | Attach the selected evidence. |
i, then Enter | Write a prompt and prepare it for review. |
y / n | Approve or reject the pending request. |
p | Propose switching to another saved connection. |
c | Cancel the current request. |
e | Open the selected canonical evidence. |
| Esc | Close the panel. |
If setup or sending fails, follow connection troubleshooting.
For a terminal workflow that optionally prioritizes attached evidence before the assistant reads it, see Jev evidence selection. Jev is separately configured and reviewed; the panel workflow above does not call it.
